Don’t Be Pulled In By Backstabbers At Work

No matter how a “team member” insists they will back you over an office issue, don’t depend on it!

You are not, I repeat, you are not the inspirational leader rallying the troops against your oppressive manager. No, you are the sole idiot standing in an office face-to-face with a boss who now thinks you’re disruptive and potentially damaging to the company he reigns over.

So, never be sucked into a co-workers personal problem with office politics, or a policy complaint that you are willing to accept, but others have serious issues with. Often these same people will want you to be the torch-bearer and approach management. Should it go badly, these same people will indicate that they had no real problem with the issue; You must have misconstrued their even mentioning it was in passing – and they were perfectly willing to accept the new policy (or whatever else the bitching originally involved).

You are not living in a Pollyanna world. You are surviving in a workplace filled with backstabbers who will plunge the knife in you as soon as their battle seems lost.
