Flash: Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston Break Up… Or Was That Said Already?

I think I’m caught in a time warp. Didn’t this happen before? After only 3 weeks of reunited “bliss,” Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin have split. Of course we aren’t surprised and frankly, we’re glad to see Bristol Palin have enough common sense to dump Levi and realize that being embarrassed over another breakup with a publicity hound like Levi Johnston would be nothing compared to going into a bad marriage with that idiot.

It was bad timing for Bristol, or perhaps planned timing by Levi. The same day that Bristol Palin announced the two had reunited, Levi Johnston informed her that he might have gotten another young woman pregnant. Bristol may have had the fortitude to swallow her vomit on that little gem Levi provided, but the breaking point may have come with Levi’s further quest to become famous and be part of the celebrity crowd.

Levi actively sought to be part of a reality show that would have exposed their private lives, including Tripp, their son. The problem was that Levi needed Bristol and Tripp to be involved with the reality show. Producers had no interest in following the misadventures of an idiot like Levi without a family involved and I’m sure, the occasional references to Sarah Palin that would have availed themselves on the show.

Levi has also been shooting a music video in Hollywood, about a young man in love, but her mother interferes with their happiness.

Poor guy. I wonder what fantasy world Levi lives in to think that he wasn’t the cause of his own problems. During his travels in Hollywood it has been reported that Levi has been rubbing elbows with anyone who will rub them back, making disparaging comments about the Palins, and partying. He has been doing little to be a father concerned about young Tripp, the child born to him and Bristol.

Betsy Gleick, executive editor of People magazine, told CBS News, “What Bristol told People is that on the very day that the world learned they were going to get married; Levi came home and said to her that he may have gotten another woman pregnant.”

Bristol said in People magazine the final straw came when Levi was spending more time trying to get a reality show than being a father, saying, “He’s just obsessed with the limelight and I got played.”

Gleick told “The Early Show”, “Bristol is heartbroken. She described texting him and getting no answer, and then eventually she said Levi said, ‘Hey, do you want to be on a reality show?’”

Bristol, however, says she wants no part of Levi’s reality show plans. In a statement to People.com, mom Sarah Palin, even weighed in, saying, “I wish for Bristol to be able to move forward in life with her same forgiving, gracious, optimistic spirit, but from henceforth she’ll know to trust but verify. Bristol is strong, she is independent, and she knows what is right for her son.”

Glor added on “The Early Show”, Bristol has reportedly moved back in with her parents on their orders. As for Johnston, Glor reported he is still shooting that music video in Los Angeles.

On “The Early Show”, Bonnie Fuller, editor in chief of Hollywoodlife.com, said the engagement isn’t a stunt. The couple actually had a reality show on the table for $1.5 million, she said, and they walked away from the offer.

Fuller said the producer told Hollywoodlife.com that the show couldn't go forward without an entire family -- Bristol, Levi and Tripp -- on board.

"There was no interest in just Levi on his own," she said.

Fuller added the producer was very surprised by the split, saying that the producer sent someone to Anchorage to talk to them, and suddenly, Fuller said, "they disappeared."

Fuller said, "Suddenly he's off in L.A. and his people are claiming that he's got all kinds of other offers on the table."

Is this the final chapter to the Bristol and Levi Johnston craziness?

Unlikely, unless Bristol can understand that Levi was only in the relationship in an effort to find some type of public recognition for himself. She needs to rid herself of those feelings she will always have when we were once in love with another. Those feelings of what we thought we had and the loss of it. She has to understand and accept that he is an immature, egotistical, fame seeker who will never put a mate, or his child, over his own needs of being in the public eye.

We'll hear from Levi again. His fame and finding the limelight will likely come in a drunk driving, possession, assault, or some other charge that failed "celebrities" ultimately find themselves arrested for when they are no longer followed by paparazzi.
