Learn How To Be Subtle Against A Backstabber

Until you are ready to start presenting knife evidence to management it can be beneficial to ease that knife out slowly and point it in the general direction of the backstabber without getting specific, or direct.

You simply have to create doubt in the minds of your co-workers (and sometimes friends if not in a work environment), as to the trustworthiness of the backstabber.

In the course of conversations you will hear the name of the backstabber mentioned. If it is by a gossip it is especially likely that they will have mentioned something they heard from the backstabber, or said to the backstabber. This is your opportunity to plant the seeds of destruction that will begin to grow.

Again, without naming them, but as soon as the backstabbers name is mentioned, simply tell the other person that they need to be careful with whom they confide, or discuss a problem with because “some people” are known backstabbers, a boss’s snitch, or other descriptive that gets your seed of discrediting them planted.

Of course, the person speaking with you will want you to elaborate. Don’t. Just tell them that “you know, what you know, and you aren’t naming anyone specifically – you just want to warn them to be careful.”

They will associate your warning with the last person they mentioned before you gave them your insight. Let the gossiper and talker do the work for you. He or she can never say you told them it was (insert name) who was the backstabber, should he/she get called out for specifically naming that person to others – as they will. You only told them that they should be careful in their conversations and that people do backstab others (which is true everywhere); you never specifically gave them a specific name of anyone, to identify as a backstabber.
