Mel Gibson – Backstabber or Backstabbed?

You have to wonder if Mel Gibson, star of Braveheart and other blockbuster movies, was intoxicated when he went into a tirade toward ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, while they were on the phone. He certainly displayed himself in a bad light when his rant used ethnic slurs and seemed to indicate that he had physically abused his ex-girlfriend when he didn’t deny her allegations of hitting her.

Obviously, Mel Gibson had no idea that Oksana Grigorieva was recording the conversation, which she later denied releasing to the website, Radar Online, and said she had “no idea” how the tape made it to the public. In the tape, Gibson refers to Oksana as a “pig” and then goes on to denounce her tight fitting clothes, breast implants, and uses the word “Niggers,” while he yells at her about it being her fault, if she were ever to be raped by “a pack” of them. Oksana, well aware of the conversation being recorded, kept her composure and seemed only too content in bringing up personal matters that elicited responses from Gibson – especially when it came to criminal conduct.

During one segment where she brings up being struck by Gibson hitting her twice, which she specifically pointed out the number of times he hit her and alleges she was holding their child in her arms at the time, Gibson responds with, “You deserved it.”

There is certainly no excuse for Gibson’s conduct. He was obviously upset and fell into the spotlight that Oksana was only too pleased to provide him. Also, reported by Radar Online is that Oksana can not claim any of Mel’s fortune. Could this be the reason Oksana’s tapes somehow became public? She certainly has leverage against Gibson if the L.A. Sheriff’s Office investigation into alleged domestic violence bears fruit. In such an instance a D.A. would likely only pursue an action if the victim is willing to testify.

It could cost a hefty sum to Gibson if Oksana decides not to testify.

The media has made this a top news story. Pictures of Gibson being used are most often those of him looking his worst. Mug shots or other unflattering images accompany the story.

Gibson made headlines three years ago when it was revealed he went on an anti-Semitic rant after being arrested for drunk driving by an L.A. County Sheriff’s deputy, for which he apologized. As of this writing, Gibson has made no public response to his latest verbal assault, other than to say Oksana had made an extortion attempt.
