NPR Reveals No Free Speech Philosophy In Firing Juan Williams

NPR Juan Williams FiredNational Public Radio (NPR) showed its’ true liberal colors and demonstrated that anyone who doesn’t follow their agenda will be removed. So much for tolerance and allowing people to voice a personal feeling.

Juan Williams, a news analyst for NPR appeared on a recognized conservative network, FOX, and was a guest on “The O’Reilly Factor.” Bill O’Reilly, an ultra-conservative is the host of The O’Reilly Factor. A comment made by Juan Williams while appearing on that show, brought down the NPR ax and resulted in Williams firing.

NPR is run by such cowards that they didn’t even fire Williams face to face. They had to do it by phone.

The offense? Making a truthful statement that many people can relate to.

Williams stated that when he sees Muslims in religious garb on a plane he gets nervous. His exact words:

“I mean, look, Bill, I’m not a bigot. You know the kind of books I’ve written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous.”

Was he being honest? Yes. However, Williams was describing his feelings. Williams was not saying that he was right to have those feelings, or that a religion should be blamed for the acts of a few extremists.

He continued on in the interview to say the following:

“Wait a second though, wait, hold on, because if you said Timothy McVeigh, the Atlanta bomber, these people who are protesting against homosexuality at military funerals, very obnoxious, you don’t say first and foremost, we got a problem with Christians. That’s crazy.”

It may not be what he said, but rather his working occasionally for the FOX network as a part-time commentator that had NPR waiting for any opportunity to fire him. Last year, NPR tried to persuade its White House correspondent, Mara Liasson, to give up her FOX work.

Let’s talk honesty here, since NPR isn’t being honest with its’ liberal agenda.

If you aren’t Muslim and you’re on a plane when you see a couple of guys in their Muslim garb boarding, memories of 9/11 enter your mind. If you don’t take a second or third look at them, you are a damned liar.

Does this mean you actually believe them to be terrorists? No, but just taking more notice of them than say, the businessman, or the guy in the loud Hawaiian shirt means that your senses are heightened and you are aware that they are Muslim. At some level – no matter how low – you could be considered nervous. If you weren’t, you wouldn’t have noticed them at all.

Legislation is being introduced to cut federal funding to NPR. If they can’t allow free speech, it should be removed completely.
