Talk Less and Listen More Gives Backstabbers A Dull Knife

BackstabbingThis advice is the hardest for most to put into practice:

“An open mouth always leads to a dead end.”

So many times I have watched this happen to fellow employees, and sadly, I have been a victim myself until I learned the hard way to follow my own advice and disarming backstabbers.

It is a nasty habit to talk too much, to tell stories about yourself, or worst of all, tell others more than they need to know. This lesson is close to the lesson involving gossips, but differs in the sense that even if you don’t talk about yourself, you can still talk too much.

Gabbing about others, the company, the management is all a disease that will lead to you being fired. Believe me, the less you say about everything, the better off you will be. You don’t have to be a mute, as that would be rude, but if you must talk, just say enough to keep others spilling their guts.

Don’t share with others in the workplace about you marriage troubles, finances, kids’ arrest, or anything else you don’t need known at your workplace. Backstabbers use this information against you;
“I guess Joe is late because he is checking up on his wife’s affair” is not something you want the workplace to know. A person who has personal problems is well known to lack productivity and cause moral problems among other workers.

Shut your pie hole and keep your job. Don’t make it easy for the backstabber to cut you deep.
