The Complaint Backstabber
The complaint backstabber is the next level above the whining backstabber, who cries to co-workers.
Our complaint backstabber is sometimes referred to as a snitch, rat, slug, and other derogatory nomenclature. Though an easily defined line exists between someone making a formal complaint regarding issues of life threatening safety or theft, which should never be construed as backstabbing, a complaint backstabber makes formal complaints to a superior about trivial infractions, or perceived violations that have no merit.
This backstabber is one that may have a personal vendetta against you, or may be a person who thinks being the boss’s “eyes and ears” will lead to advancement. Advancement may actually happen, but it is often limited and they find themselves in a dead end position. The boss may like a snitch, but they don’t respect or trust one. They don’t let a complaint backstabber get too close to their own superior in the workplace.
Due to this type of backstabber the business may have to follow-up with a formal inquiry for their own protection. If they do not, the backstabber may report the business as being unresponsive to their complaint.
Complaints can be varied. It could be anything from letting a fart slip out, a fellow worker creating a contrary work environment because they have a picture of their latest hunting kill on their wall, to wearing “inappropriate clothing” at the workplace. Animal activist Reginald doesn’t like Bubba’s picture of himself holding a bow over a dead deer. Fat, old Sally doesn’t like twenty-something Mary, with the perky, 36DD tits, showing cleavage.
The point is that the complaints are nuisance complaints from a backstabber who believes that if they complain enough and possibly find others to join in their complaint, you will be found a violator of some company policy that may, or may not exist. They try to make you appear as a problem when, in fact, it is they who are causing disruption among the workers and interfering with production.
